Discover how genetic engineering is a common and essential practice in biotechnology and how scientists are using genetically modified organisms (GMOs). In our classroom lab you will purify plasmids and inoculate bacterial cultures to create glowing bacteria (a genetically modified organism). In addition, you will also have an opportunity to bring the abstract concept of DNA into a concrete visual by isolating and storing your DNA in a unique necklace.
