Bright Lights Executive Director to Retire

Bright Lights Executive Director Kathy Hanrath has announced that she will retire effective February 28, 2015. Hanrath has been a part of the Bright Lights summer learning program for 27 years, and has served as executive director since 1994.

In 2014 the Bright Lights program served nearly 2500 Lincoln-area children with more than 100 half-day classes and 8 day camps on topics ranging from robotics to cuisine. Scholarships helped more than 400 students participate in the program.

“Bright Lights has prospered under Kathy’s leadership and everyone involved with the program is grateful for her dedication to Lincoln’s children and families,” said Barb George, president of the Bright Lights board of directors.

George says preparations for the summer 2015 session of Bright Lights will continue as usual while the board seeks a new executive director. A job description and application information is available at BrightLights.org
