Become a Class Sponsor!
(Monday, October 30, 2006)
A summer tradition for 20 years, Bright Lights learning adventures has provided students the opportunity to explore topics of their choice with a hands-on, minds-on approach. Elementary and middle school students build robots, create masks, explore the rain forest, befriend Harry Potter or Laura Ingalls Wilder, become detectives, and try on careers in engineering, architecture, teaching and medicine. An annual class sponsorship campaign is now underway to provide funding for the summer of 2007 program.
Sponsorship does more than purchase supplies for class. Bright Lights offers students need-based scholarships with over 20% of students using these funds. Bus service from several schools to the main program site, Randolph Elementary will help serve families for 2007. Donors enable a focus on safety with on-site protocol as well as background checks and teacher/classroom assistant training.
Bright Lights is a private, non-profit organization. Funding is tuition-based with additional assistance from foundations, businesses, community service groups and individuals. Even though Bright Lights is an educational organization, it is not a recipient of federal, state or local tax revenues and is not financially supported or owned by Lincoln Public Schools or the United Way.
Become part of the community team supporting this hometown, homegrown summer enrichment program for our youth. Donations may be sent to Bright Lights, 5561 So. 48th St., Suite 220, Lincoln, NE 68516. For more information call 420-1115.
