International Program: Japanese
Middle School students are invited to attend Bright Lights with visiting ninth grade students from Japan the week of June 23-27, 2008, from 9 am - noon at Lux Middle School!
Japan and Middle School Students: Tom Cruise in The Last Samurai. Dance Dance Revolution. Pokemon. Martial Arts. Japanese culture has infused, mixed and fascinated Americans since before Hamada Hikozo became the first Japanese-American citizen in 1858. Bright Lights is again hosting an international exchange with Senshu Matsudo University Junior High School, a private middle school in the suburb of Tokyo.
Approximately 100 Japanese students will join American students in dynamic Bright Lights classes specially selected to encourage a natural cultural exchange through activities, science experiments and fine arts projects. This exchange provides a unique educational and cultural experience, builds friendships, and fosters an understanding of the world. Coordinated by Barb McCallum Highstreet, who traveled to Japan in 2003 as part of a Fulbright teacher exchange program, local students will have an unparalleled international experience without leaving Lincoln.
- Free bus transportation to Lux Middle School is available from St. Mary's Catholic School (14th & K) and Randolph Elementary School (1024 S. 37th St.).
This is a great value at $95 for a one-week cultural exchange without leaving Lincoln.
