Summer Learning Adventures for Elementary and Middle School Students
Bright Lights focuses on students' talents and strengths with specialized classes. Students can pursue fields of interest unavailable in school. There is a tradition of kinship among students as they share common interests. This is not a gifted program, but one that challenges students to broaden their horizons. Good behavior is expected from the students. The program offers "one stop shopping" to accommodate families with students of different ages and interests.
Partial financial need-based student scholarships are available. A simple application form is required with the registration form. Both forms can be found on this website and in the printed class brochure. Approximately 20% of the students receive a need-based scholarship.
Bright Lights has no residency requirements and the classroom represents the diversity of the community. Students and teachers from wide geographic and ethnic backgrounds make Bright Lights a diverse and vibrant experience.
17 percent of the students are from outside Lincoln. 5 percent are international students, primarily from Japan.
